Sold-out event in Whistler, BC, kicks off series of workshops across the country to help Canadian tourism industry biz.
International tourism is a fiercely competitive marketplace—you can never get enough education and tools to help boost revenue and reputation. The Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) has just cut the ribbon on a series of free Signature Experiences Collection®(SEC) workshops designed to improve Canadian businesses across the country as well as their chances to join the others in CTC’s top-notch international marketing program.
Sixty tourism biz reps made a beeline for Whistler, BC, for the first sold-out workshop on Jan. 25. CTC is working with destination marketing organizations and industry associations all over Canada to identify likely attendees, sparking huge demand. There are 26 planned workshops to date, with some destinations intent on organizing more to match industry’s appetite.
At the heart of the workshops is learning about Explorer Quotient®(EQ), CTC’s innovative marketing segmentation tool to help businesses identify their best international customers. There are three separate three-hour training workshops:
The workshops are led by certified EQ trainers. Any interested businesses should contact their local destination marketing organization for more info. Here is the full list of planned workshops to-date:

Hi Angie
Sorry to hear you missed out.
Keep an eye on CTC News and our corporate website for any more training sessions. And, as in the comments below, plans are afoot for online learning in 2013...
best, Mat
Hi there,
I missed out being able to attend the Vancouver Island event, but please let me know when another training event is coming this way again!
Thanks,
Angie Barnard, Painted Turtle Guesthouse, Nanaimo BC
Hi Stacey
Contact Bradley Cottrell at Tourism Victoria on 250 414-6978 or bradley [dot] cottrell [at] tourismvictoria [dot] com. He should be able to help get you registered.
Please also note that session has become Building Experiences. Anyone going needs to have attended a Bootcamp before.
Hope you enjoy it!
Best, Mat
We have some staff interested in attending the Victoria sessions but it is not clear how to sign up. Please let me know how we can register!
Thank you.
Hi Howard and Judy
After checking with the team, the official word is that converting the SEC training program into online learning modules looks worthwhile. We plan to start with the EQ Boot camp section, which we expect will be online in early 2013. The success of this will determine whether the remaining modules are treated similarly.
Stay tuned (as they say)!
best, Mat
I agree with the webinar idea and also would love to see more live workshops in Vancouver!
Thanks for the idea Howard. Let me pass that on to the SEC team and we'll get back to you.
cheers, Mat
How about making this information available on the internet for those who can not attend on the set dates? I made am application for this program but may not get to the training sessions. Internet based sessions are frequently used by others.
