Annual marketplace matches Canadian sellers with buyers from China, India, Japan and South Korea.
Registration is now open for Showcase Canada—Asia 2010, the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC)’s marketplace for the rapidly growing Asian travel market. This year’s event is at the Sofitel Wanda hotel in Beijing, China, Oct. 13 to 21.
The Showcase matches one-to-one Canadian sellers with buyers from China, India, Japan and South Korea in a well-grooved format of pre-scheduled speed-dating-style appointments and fun networking events. It’s CTC’s largest international show, only trumped by May’s Rendez-vous Canada.
Last year’s show was a sold-out smash hit: 210 buyers, including 18 small- to medium-size business first-timers; 5,000-plus appointments; 55 Canadian industry suppliers and organizations, plus travel-trade media.
This year, CTC aims to go one better by adding emerging market India to the mix. Showcase offers significant cost savings by bringing reps from four markets under one roof—very useful at a time when companies large and small have a sharp eye on the bottom line and can’t necessarily afford to attend four marketplaces in one year.
“The October Showcase for Asia will build on last year’s hugely successful show in Japan, plus we’re adding new potential with the Indian market,” says Charles McKee, CTC vice president, International. “We anticipate another exceptional attendance, including many more new buyers and sellers.”
