In January 2014, Greg Klassen was named Interim President and CEO of the Canadian Tourism Commission.
Greg is a respected leader in Canada’s tourism industry. Since his arrival at the CTC in 2001, he has been a driving force in the establishment of Canada’s global reputation as a unique destination.
Under his direction, the evolution of Canada’s tourism brand Canada. Keep Exploring has won multiple awards for the CTC, including Marketer of the Year by Marketing magazine in 2009. Over the past five years, the CTC has contributed to Canada’s global position as the No.1 or No. 2 tourism brand in FutureBrand’s Country Brand Index and in 2013 the organization’s innovative 35 Million Directors campaign received four gold awards from the Canadian Marketing Association.
Greg is also responsible for leveraging CTC’s recently launched Business Events Canada division to compel and inspire corporate and association meeting planners to hold their meetings and events in Canada.
A graduate of the MBA program at Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management, he also has an undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Victoria. Prior to the CTC, Greg worked in marketing for Telus and AT&T and taught marketing at Algonquin College in Ottawa, ON.
